Parex Fixopierre is a water vapour-permeable and microporous substrate porosity regulator and key coat admixture, particularly suitable for lime or earth based substrates where high breathability of the substrate is required or where a high absorption substrate is expected.
- Improves the adhesion of façade renders by reducing the risk of the product drying out before hardening
- Suitable for Preparing substrates as a primer coat for rendering onto e.g. stone, masonry, terracotta, bare earth (cob, adobe, witchet etc), shuttered concrete, aircrete concrete, traditional or one-coat renders, decorative stones or bricks
Please note: 5L size is also available - please contact our Technical Department for availability on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected]

Features & Benefits
- Water vapour-permeable
- Microporous substrate porosity regulator and key coat admixture
- Particularly suitable for lime or earth based substrates where high breathability of the substrate is required or where a high absorption substrate is expected
- Improves the adhesion of façade renders by reducing the risk of the product drying out before hardening
- Suitable for:
- Use as a substrate regulator (on porous substrates: wet the substrate first)
- Creating a key coat or bonding coat when mixed with products designed for restoration of old substrates e.g. Parex lime range of renders
- Preparing substrates as a primer coat for rendering onto e.g. stone, masonry, terracotta, bare earth (cob, adobe, witchet etc), shuttered concrete, aircrete concrete, traditional or one-coat renders, decorative stones or bricks
Application
- Shake product before use to ensure the contents are mixed
- Substrate Regulator: depending on the substrate’s porosity, dilute the product with water in proportions from 10 to 50% (either 1 volume of Fixopierre for 9 volumes of water or 1 volume of Fixopierre for 1 volume of water). Apply this solution with a brush or spray ensuring the substrate is fully coated and in order to complete the humidification process
- Bonding Coat: for small areas, make up a bonding coat of mortar and Fixopierre diluted with approximately 20% water to obtain a fluid consistency. Apply to substrate with a brush. The render can be applied to a dry or sticky bonding coat
- Key Coat: for large areas, depending on type of substrate, directly mix in 8 to 20% Fixopierre into the mixing water for the render. Spray an even thin coat layer (no thick areas) leaving a rough surface finish to allow the renders to adhere well
- Waiting time before applying the render is 2 to 12 hours as a sticky substance. After 12 hours, wetting of the key coat will be necessary prior to application of the finishing layer
- Consumption:
- Substrate Regulator: 0.015 to 0.125 litres/m2 depending on the substrate condition and porosity. (approx 40 - 300 m2 per 5 litre container)
- Bonding coat on stone: 0.15 litres per water content of a 30 kg bag of Artopierre TF/TM. (approx 30 bags per 5 litre container)
- Key coat on old masonry or earth based substrates: 0.5 to 1 litre per bag of 30 kg Parlumiere Clair, Parexal etc. (approx 5 - 10 bags per 5 litre container)
This information is provided as guidance only, excludes wastage and will vary subject to the application and substrate.
