Wood Floor Wax
Buy wax for wooden floors at Rawlins Paints, protecting and enriching hardwoods and wood species including oak, pine, spruce, and many more. We provide clear and transparent wood floor waxes to bring out the natural beauty of your wood flooring and floorboards, allowing the wood’s natural grain and character to remain visible as well as protected, and also coloured and tinted floor waxes. These help colour or darken wood, changing the aesthetic of a room and helping match or contrast to existing fittings and furnishings. A single coat allows the grain to remain visible, for a coloured wood-grain look. A second coat will hide these characteristics in your timber flooring.
Should I wax my hardwood floors?
Yes! Waxing wooden floors brings out the gorgeous texture of natural wood, restoring shine to dull and well-trafficked areas. Wood floor wax will also seal and protect your hardwood flooring, hardening as it dries, preventing stains and preserving the finish.
What is the best wax for wood floors?
Osmo Wood Wax Finish protects and decorates your wood floor, uniquely combining the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one product, with simple application.
Should I wax or varnish floorboards?
Wood floor wax will penetrate the wood pores of your floorboards and becomes part of the wood, which is ideal for a natural appearance You can apply more wax as needed without sanding the existing surface. Varnish, in comparison, sits on top of the wood surface for protection, and older varnish needs to be sanded down before new varnish is applied.
How much does it cost to wax wood floors?
Much less than painting them! Wax doesn’t require prior sanding or primers, saving money as well as your time.
Interior Wood Furniture Wax
Treat your interior wooden furniture with protective wax to help guard against damage, and to bring out the natural beauty and characteristics of wood. At Rawlins Paints we have wood wax finishes suitable for almost all woods, from ingredient-rich hardwoods such as teak, walnut, and cedar, and woods rich in extractives, such as Meranti, Wengé, and Merbau. From one of the largest wood wax manufacturers in the UK, Osmo have decades of expertise in treating and protecting interior wood furniture with wax finishes. As well as clear wood furniture wax, we also stock coloured waxes that can be applied for a transparent look, with the grain and features remaining visible, or an opaque colour tone.
Wax is good for applying to interior wood furniture, nourishing the wood from within and protecting it from scrapes and spills. Wood furniture wax keeps your furnishings healthier for longer, preventing stains. The wax forms a barrier against dust and dirt, often able to simply be wiped off with a cloth, helping to keep wood furniture clean around the house or workplace.
You may prefer to use wood wax on furniture over an oil for its satin finish and glossy appearance. Waxed wooden surfaces can also resist liquid spills, protecting your wood furniture from stains and reducing exposure to the moisture, but are not 100% waterproof.
Wood furniture wax is versatile, able to be applied over almost any other wood finish including stain, oil, varnish, and paint. When your furniture dulls and requires rewaxing, you can simply apply more wax, whereas with a varnish, you would need to sand and strip the bare of its varnish coating before reapplying.
Osmo Wood Wax Finish has 25 colour options that are ideal for putting the colour back into old and tired wood furniture. This is great for modern schools where brightly coloured wooden desks, chairs, and storage units are used. They can also be used to lighten and darken wood, to change the look of furnishings to match new interior décor, ideal for homes and heritage buildings.
With upcycling and recycling becoming more popular these days, people are using coloured waxes to restore and protect their thrifty finds for many years to come, saving big money over buying new furniture. Rust-Oleum Finishing Wax, for instance, is used to protect the finish achieved with Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint for shabby-chic interiors.
