Thermoguard Timbercoat BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System - 4,000+ colours available from RAL, BS & NCS.

Thermoguard Timbercoat BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System is a coloured fire retardant paint system for interior and exterior timber surfaces. These packs have been created to help users ensure they are purchasing sufficient product for their project. Each pack contains the correct amount of basecoat (Timbercoat) and topcoat (Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat) to ensure protection is achieved inline with the manufacturers recommendations to the respective area in question.

Each component of the packs can still be purchased individually if required here: Thermoguard Timbercoat Insulating Basecoat and here: Thermoguard Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat

Pack Contents

  • 20m² Pack (Interior Spec.) = 1 x 20m² Timbercoat Insulating Basecoat + 1 x 20m² Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat
  • 20m² Pack (Exterior Spec.) = 1 x 20m² Timbercoat Insulating Basecoat + 1 x 40m² Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat
  • 40m² Pack (Interior Spec.) = 1 x 40m² Timbercoat Insulating Basecoat + 1 x 40m² Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat

Specification & Application
Prepare & apply according to manufacturer’s instructions

  • 1 coat of Thermoguard Timbercoat Insulating Basecoat
  • 1 coat* of Thermoguard Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat

*Apply 2 coats of Thermoguard Smoke & Flame Retardant Dualcoat for external, damp or high wear areas - Purchase 'Exterior Spec.' packs for this use. 2 coats may also be required for strong/dark colours - Thermoguard Timbercoat will be provided in a suitable undercoat shade to aid topcoat opacity unless instructed otherwise.

Please note: Timber must be clean and thoroughly dry prior to application (maximum 18% moisture content). Any gaps should be sealed with Thermoguard Intumescent Mastic. Fire should be prevented from accessing unprotected wood surfaces and for external applications it is recommended wood has been sealed on the reverse face to stop water ingress.

NOT suitable for the topside of floor surfaces that will be trafficked/walked on.

For 30 & 60 minute protection please see Thermoguard Timbercoat 30 & 60 Minute Protection System Packs.

For fire protection to doors, see Door Upgrade Products

Application to OSB/Sterling Board

This is a board made of chips of wood glued together to form a hard non-decorative board. If it needs fire coating, Thermoguard Fire Varnish or Timbercoat System can be applied to it. However we first recommend a test is carried out by applying a small amount of the proposed coating to the board to check for "cessing" / "cissing" (where coating gathers together in lumps and may leaving bare patches between). If this occurs the board should be degreased/cleaned and allowed to dry before testing again - if this still does not provide a satisfactory application please contact our Technical Team for further advice on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected].

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

No, unfortunately we do not have a paint we can recommend to achieve A1 or A2 ratings.

Question:

Does this product come in clear?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

No, but Thermoguard Fire Varnish BS Class 1/0 & EN Class B System is available in clear or translucent stained finishes and will achieve the same level of fire protection on suitable substrates.

questions Rakesh  on 2017-06-05 16:52:40
Question: Can you use the fire protective paint on treated timber.
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Any pre-treatment should be free from wax or silicones. If caustic / high pH treatments used, neutralise wood pH before applying coatings. Ensure damp & fluid from wood treatment saturation fully dry out. Remove any loose surface deposits. If treatment left wood coated, contact our Technical Department with product information for further advice.
